Hair Removal

Body Sugaring is the Ancient Art of Hair Removal, that Egyptians have practiced through the centuries.

It's an all natural form of hair removal that uses a paste that is made up of sugar, lemon juice, and water.  There is absolutely no chemical components, unlike wax.

Sugar Paste is applied to the skin by hand at a cool-lukewarm temperature.  The way that sugar is applied is completely opposite from waxing.  Sugar removes the hair from the root in the direction the hair actually grows, therefore no broken hairs.  This results in less pain and sparser and thinner hair growth over time.  The sugar paste can be applied to the same area more than once and will Not remove live skin cells, it exfoliates only dead skin cells.  This results in a more thorough removal of the hair leaving the skin feeling smooth and soft.

SUGARING vs WAXING

Body Sugaring is a form of hair removal that has many advantages over waxing.

Sugar Paste contains 100% natural ingredients made up of sugar, lemon juice, and water, whereas wax has many chemical ingredients made up mostly of resins and preservatives.

Body Sugaring is less painful.  Sugar paste will remove the hair and exfoliate the dead skin cells, therefore it is safe for dry eczema, and dry psoriasis, because it leaves the skin intact, and feeling soft.  Sugar will not adhere to any live skin cells, whereas wax will adhere to the live skin cells.  This makes waxing painful and irritating.  Wax should not be applied to an area more than twice, or it has been known to remove more than just the hair. Ouch! Sugar is gentle enough to go over the same area more than once when necessary to remove very short or coarse hair, and does not cause skin damage or irritation.

Sugar paste is easy to clean up because it is water soluble. It is easily cleaned up off the client or work surface with water.  Waxes contain resins and the client is left feeling sticky and requires chemical solvents to remove from clothes and equipment.

Sugar paste is cooler than wax and will not burn the skin and is applied at cool - lukewarm temperature.  In order to liquefy wax it must be heated to a very high temperature. This can cause burning, and swelling in the tissues, which is painful and makes hair removal difficult.  Long term use of wax can break down the underlying connecting tissues, especially in the lip and brow area, which are associated with wrinkling.

Sugar paste will not dry, so you can work over an entire area without constant dipping and stripping like wax.  Most waxes must be removed before it dries which means a longer process than necessary because of the repetitious dipping and stripping.

Sugar paste will not break the hair, as the paste stays pliable, which gives more support to the hair removing it cleanly.  Wax hardens in the hair and has the tendency to break it off rather than pulling it out, leaving up to 30% breakage behind.  This will cause early regrowth due to broken hairs and painful ingrown.  Wax is also applied in the same direction as the hair growth ad then ripped off in the opposite direction of the hair growth.  This is not good because ripping the hair off in the opposite direction will remove the hair but often leave the hair follicle intact under the skin.  Sugar is applied in the opposite direction and then pulled out in the same direction as the hair growth causing the hair to slide out from the follicle.  This method is less painful and allows the hair to grow back thinner, softer, and with regular treatments eventually the hair will stop growing back.

Body Sugaring is more Sanitary.  Cross contamination in a waxing room is always a danger because the application stick is used on the client and "double dipped" into the wax that will be used on other clients.  Bacteria can breed in a wax jar. Sugar paste is hypoallergenic and does not clog pores (non-comedogenic). Since sugar paste is a high concentration of sugar, bacteria will not breed in the jar.  Body Sugaring uses a different ball of paste and gloves for each client.  No cross contamination or double dipping or strips which makes sugaring a safer, cleaner, and faster process.

Sugar paste can remove very short hairs as short as 1/8", or 10 to 14 days growth after shaving (but for best results 1/4" is required). Wax products often require two to three weeks growth, or up to a 1/2" when a client is shaving.
